Qs and As

Q. How does this elementary school teacher tone down a leather skirt for work?
A. By pairing with an ultra-conservative fair-isle wool scottie-dog cardigan.

Q. How did said elementary school teacher get her work done while wearing three inch heels?
A. By taking off her heels and slipping on the emergency flats under her desk as soon as she arrived.

Q. What the heck is all that junk in her bag?
A. Files, enormous salad for lunch, croutons for aforementioned salad, coffee, plus usual basics.

Q. What's new at school?
A. No less than 22 changes and new hoops to jump through in the last 2 months and more to come... not to mention 28 students, the majority of whom came to me below grade level and one-fourth of whom have behavior issues.  I'm feeling pretty stressed and overwhelmed these days.  Thank you, dear readers, for your positive energy.  I so appreciate you.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. You can do it!!! It gets hard and seemingly impossible, but I'm sure (as competitive as you are) you'll find a way to win them over! I'm a spec. Ed. teacher with three small group classes and two team-taught/co-taught classes. I decided to collapse one of my small classes into a TT class to move around some behavior problems that were getting under my skin. It seems to be working so far. There is always a way especially got someone as smart as yourself. Good luck with everything!

  6. That scotty cardigan is SO cute! I hope all goes smooth at work. It's very tough dealing with kids that have behavior issues. Teachers have such a hard job, I admire you!

  7. You balanced the leather skirt very well! I like the look a lot! Your sweater looks warm and cozy.

I'm sorry to hear the school year has been a bit on the rough side! Teachers are my heroes, no joke. Hang in there!

  8. Hang in there Vivienne, you're making a huge difference through your work. Differences that can change lives, if not now, but way into the future. I still remember fondly a few teachers I had way back in the 60's and it's true, they still inspire me today when I think about things they said or did. Especially the few who recognized something good in me.

  9. I'm not big on leather skirts, but you did a great job of toning it down. That sweater is adorable. And I have to applaud you for taking on 28 kids, not to mention behavioral issues and all that... Hang in there! I'm sure you'll do well!

  10. You paired the leather skirt perfectly. What's not to love about the scotty dog sweater; its such a subtle pattern, not in your face and splashed all over. Now I want one!
You look so professional and yet there's a touch of whimsy and fun that doesn't take away from the classic feeling of the outfit.

    - Oh, I can SO identify with what you are saying here! Everything changes ALL the time in teaching- it's awful, isn't it! They are pushing all our class sizes up to 31, sometimes 32 now, so many behavioural issues because parents just aren't giving input! Bless you lots for your patience.
You look great! Love the cardie!
